Seismology & the iPhone

Surely the iPhone application of some use would be an application that predicts earthquakes? 

 I wonder if anyone in Hawkes Bay who was ambivalent to the disaster in Christchurch in the weekend, all of a sudden cared deeply about it just before 11 this morning?

“GNS duty seismologist Brian Ferris said the two earthquakes are in no way related to the powerful 7.1 earthquake which hit Christchurch on Saturday morning”..... did not feel that way Brian.
