Fruitbowl - Fresh Ideas from Hawke's Bay

April 8th was just like any other day for Gywn Burton except in one very important respect.  He was out hiking in the Ruahines when he lost control of his legs and fell to the ground.  He was having a stroke. Thanks to the Lowe Rescue Helicopter Corporation, he's still a highly functioning adult who's able to do most of the things he wants to do when he wants to do them.

Because the helicopter reached Burton within a four-hour time frame, he was able to be given a drug which dissolved the clot before the worst damage from the stroke had compromised him.

Burton was the subject of a video produced by local production house Indelible that was shown at the Mid-Winter Sparkle Charity Fundraiser.  Burton's story helped the Trust raise over $80,000 at the event.
