After 90 years it looks like New Zealand apples will finally be eaten by Australians. Aussie Growers have been doing their best to keep our much tastier apples off their supermarket shelves for a long long time but consumers will now get to eat the best of our Hawke's Bay harvest. We were involved with an apple action group that marched to Parliament a few years back - campaign called No More Forbidden Fruit - Let our Apples In Aussie! and it's just reward for the the action group and supporting growers that this day has happened. On that day our two local MPs participated and bowled underarm deliveries from the railway station to the Beehive.
Not sure what the details of access are - nor whether there will be an appeal but it's a day in the sunshine for the small guy!
