The Profits out!

By Damon Harvey, March 5th, 2010

Last night the Profit was launched. Hastings mayor Lawrence Yule opened the first box of magazines and feedback so far has been fantastic.

From Monday the magazine will be sent out to all local businesses and it’s also going to over 2000 property investors throughout New Zealand.

I was wondering why Hawke’s Bay needs more property developers.

We need people in Hawke’s Bay who will develop innovative ideas and businesses. The property investment will come later.

Talk about getting the tail before the dog!

  2. The story above says the publication is going to property investors – in part that would be developers but if you have a look at the publication – most of the listings are for selling existing buildings or businesses.

  3. Excellent work guys, can’t wait for my copy.

Fronting the Bay – I think you might have to earn the title – to think that the only thing you could bring yourself to say was something negative says alot about you.

I was genuinely excited when I heard Attn were launching an HB business magazine, and still think the concept is a great one. Unfortunately, I don’t think that this issue has delivered.
I had sincerely hoped for a magazine that profiled businesses from an objective point of view (providing a credible source of information for readers), as opposed to the self promoting articles that comprise The Profit.
The RRP of $12 seems optimistic when a Time magazine retails for less and has less advertorials.
Perhaps time and some revision of the content and layout will see The Profit become a coveted business publication??

  6. I take my hat off to you guys for getting out there and actually doing it!
Came in the post today and was a great read over my lunch, well done to you all.

Great Casey this is the type of constructive feedback The Profit needs – you’re right as the magazine developes and grows in size there will be plenty of opportuntiy for expanison into investigative journalism, greater indepth features. The $12 is not being charged – as this is not targetted at charging subscriptions – it is about creating value – in the end the market will determine what readers are prepared to pay.

  8. Enjoyed the 1st issue and look forward to future issues.

  9. Great first up effort Profit team. Really impressed with the look, feel and content.
