On Friday night I was last minute invited to an Art Deco supper that John Key attended in the fantastic Dome venue. I'd just jumped off a plane from Auckland so wasn't really dressed for it. Everyone else was.
Now I live here I need some Hawkes Bay duds. Quite a few times this year there have been Bay events that required a bit more sartorial elegance than I'm used to. CJ and Fossie have had some great black and white stripped jackets done. I was thinking about getting the same. Anyone else want a Hawkes Bay Jacket send me an email and we'll get a run sorted.
I got to check out the refurbished Dome. Ironically I'd just been doing a two day board workshop at the Westin in Auckland. The Dome would have been much nicer and has better facilities. The AV and Internet setup is much better than normal hotels so is ideal for a high tech strategy workshop.
Having an event that people can stay overnight is great for team building. The Dome looks like it would work really well. We'll definately give it a go for our next offsite event.

Rod, “Come on The Bay”. I got my jacket via Thompsons in Hastings. Actually we have pants to match the jackets, but the total combo is very, very loud! Cheers, Craig (Fossie).

Yes – matching pants might result in ‘an intervention’.

Craig. A question. Did you crest? If you didn’t- was that so you could visit W(h)anganui?

No crest, the colours speak for themselves really. Hard to do a all encompassing crest that covers all of HB. Having said that I have an idea or two to address that exact issue…

I feel a crest design competition coming on. The order of the Fruitbowl.

We’ve had quite a bit of interest, including a local sports club. Yay! Mike Thompson is checking material availability and getting a custom run. Pricing ballpark is about $400. Stay tuned.

Hey Rod
the Hawkes Bay Rowing Club have been wanting black and white striped jackets, and would be very interested in talking to you about that idea. It all came from Emma Twigg rowing at Henley, and wanting to represent Hawkes Bay in a jacket like Chris and Craig’s to wear as she was presented with the winning trophy. Great girl!
Would love to talk to you about it, Neil would love one too, not sure abouth the pants though!
Excellent idea

Dear Rod,
I would be happy to help you improve your Art Deco image. I am sure that with a lot of time, skill and money (yours) we could raise your sartorial elegance greatly from your level to mine. Toodle Pip. Charlie Chaplin

We’ve looked at two samples but not quite right. Still searching.

Still working on this. The material has been hard to source. Have some buys looking in Europe later this month.
