Fruitbowl - Fresh Ideas from Hawke's Bay

Last weekend was the inaugural Girls Weekend, this was a great event organised by Bike Hawke’s Bay and Avanti Plus, Hastings.   A big thanks to Jon, Jamie and Vicki for organising this.

It is a great way to show case what a fantastic place Hawke’s Bay is.  The event started with a Fashion Show from Annah S on Saturday afternoon in the Underground Cellar at Black Barn and was then followed by Frocks on Bikes riding into Havelock North for a drink.

This year there were two distances 20km and 65km, next year there is the promise of a 40km ride so riders of all abilities can join in.  It is a beautiful ride around the Tukituki loop, or along the walk way to Black Bridge.  The atmosphere was fantastic, everyone was friendly, the Black Barn venue was great (except for the up hill finish) and it was fantastic weather.

After the ride, there was prizing giving held where the Black Barn Market is held.  Great place to bring a picnic and catch up with friends. 

It was all for a good cause fund raising for Breast Cancer.  I am looking forward to this event next year.
