Fruitbowl and ICT Gathering

By Fruitbowl, September 24th, 2009

Fruitbowl is off to a cracking start with a steady stream of dialogue and a great deal of interest! We are loving that people have embraced it and are sharing their stories, ideas and general banter.

But it is still in the very early stages and so we would like to extend an invitation to any business, individual or entity who might be interested in getting involved - in Fruitbowl, and/or an HB ICT 'Get Visible' group.

The general agenda for the gathering will be:

Fruitbowl:

  • what are the next steps?
  • what is the end goal?
  • how do we get there?

ICT 'Get Visible':

  • does the ICT community want to know each other?
  • does the ICT community wish to have a collective voice?
  • are there other initiatives in place that are going to achieve this?
  • what are the next steps etc

Sharon Chapman from ABC Software has offered to have everyone at her offices on Friday the 2nd Oct.

If everyone arrives at about 4.30pm (please bring $10 per person as Sharon will be providing beer, wine and nibbles), we will mingle until about 5pm when Sharon will welcome everyone and start the discussion.

Venue:
6 Devonshire Place
PO Box 7013
Taradale

Please RSVP to sharon.chapman@abcsoftware.co.nz by Weds 30th if you would like to attend.

  1. For a short time I ran a mailing list for Hawkes Bay IT people to chat to each other, and we even had a couple of meetups.

There is definitley interest out there, but reaching that critical mass of people who actually make an effort to attend events and be part of a ‘community’ still requires a little more effort.

Fruitbowl is obviously a great help towards that end.

  2. This conflicts with http://www.fruitbowl.co.nz/technology/hb-ict-where-are-you/ regarding a meetup.

Is there a definite plan, and can both pages be updated to ensure everyone knows what is going on?

  3. Hi Tony. You are dead right and I will update that post now. This post dated 24th Sept is how we will move forward from the the “HB ICT. Where are you?” post dated the 16th September.

  4. Tony – are you still in contact with those people? Would you be able to let them know that we are getting together on the 2nd?

  5. George – I will check and see if the mailing list still exists somewhere on my server, if so, then yes, of course.

  6. That would be fantastic – thanks.

  7. George – the mailing list was still intact and functional, so I sent out an invitation to check out Fruitbowl, and specifically this thread also.

  8. That’s really cool. Thanks Tony.
