Bohemian Ahuriri

By Amanda Sye, February 18th, 2010

When did you last wander around Ahuriri?

It's a fabulous seaside village with wonderful places to relax, watch the sunset, wander the boardwalk, swim in the waves - yes, we do have sand here too!

We've even got the Old Customhouse opening regularly now that the Ahuriri Business Association has formed an alliance with the trust that runs it. Why not check it out this weekend? It's open Sunday, 1am to 3pm.

Old and new, it's all interesting in Ahuriri. You'll be hooked!

  1. Couldn’t agree with you more Amanda, great place for a wander on Sunday afternoons and great place for a lunch time walk to chill after the morning’s work.

  2. I’m hooked – you will find us often fishing with the kids, then a quick scooter around to the playground, can’t forget an ice cream , then scooter past the shops, spot of lunch if hungry and before you know it 3-4 hours have past.

  3. Likewise, I couldn’t agree more either. As a recent immigrant to Ahuriri I’m loving the lifestyle. Only downside is my wallet and liver are both suffering the effects of being so close to so many fine drinking and dining establishments!

Where are the best places to eat in Ahuriri? Left our comfort zone of Provedore last night and had a bloody shocker of a meal at Gintrap – never again.

  5. Where do I start…
Milk & Honey for breakfast ($8 for perfect poached eggs on grain toast!)or a divine lunch or light dinner (we often order three or fours starters and share, rather than mains)
Sri Thai #26 crispy pork – we love it and they deliver over our back fence, so how’s that for service!
Wood-fired mushroom pizza at Shed 2, or next door at Caution for somthing more upmarket
Speights do a tender pork belly
The Flying Dutchman for a Friday night F&C special
Picada or Vetro for picnic treats
    I could go on…

  6. We had a fantastic meal at Caution – I would definitely go again. And have also had a great meal at Sri Thai.
