Like many people in the Bay, we’re big believers in creating a supportive environment in which new business can thrive. So, when we met Amanda Lawrie at the Unison Small Business expo in October, and she voiced her aspiration to setup her own event management business, we saw the perfect opportunity to put this philosophy into practice. Especially as it can be so hard to find local event managers willing to work on smaller events (the niche Amanda was hoping to target)!
After meeting with Amanda to discuss our requirements, she quickly took over the management of our team Xmas Party, organising everything from activities and props to the venue and décor.
Not only did Amanda “get the job done” she also added value, by putting forward ideas and coming up with ingenious ways to ensure we kept to our budget, whilst also ensuring the best bang for our buck.
In the end, Amanda (in conjunction with David Ferguson) hosted a fantastic Xmas Poker Party at EIT (a venue, I’m sad to admit, we would never have thought of), that included:
- A balloon arch (in Xplore.net’s corporate colours) and a room draped in fairy lights (to give that low lit casino feel)
- Poker tables (provided by David Ferguson)
- Dealers, to give a professional air to the evening (poker overseen by David Ferguson)
- Casino themed cocktails and mocktails
- Activities to help those who aren’t the best poker players gain chips too
- Catering delivered to the venue (including nibbles, main and dessert)
- Prizes (everyone took something away)
- Someone who quietly ensured activities stayed on schedule and whose discreet influence saw the creation of the best Xmas Party we’ve been to in a long time.
If you have an event that you would like full or partial management of, we highly recommend Two Jandals Event Management (owned by Amanda Lawrie) – phone: 021 182 6444 or email: Amanda@twojandals.co.nz
Website coming soon…
Equally, if you are interested in hiring poker tables and dealers for one of your events, we recommend David Ferguson – phone: 027 210 0705.
