While working in a Govt Data Centre in the Hutt Valley I noticed a strange breed of people…they were healthy looking, relaxed and cheerful…. they were not my fellow Wellingtonians who were a pale, uptight and windblown bunch. Investigation revealed these people to be from Hawke’s Bay. 30 years on I have the same feeling each time I hit the Heretuanga plains…the temperature raises 10% the sky clears, I can see for miles, my shoulders relax, I open the window and breath in the Bays air…home again whew.
Back then I swapped income for lifestyle…..in today’s connected world coming from Hawke’s Bay gives me both the psychological and economic advantage.
