I have to admit, I don't really 'lunch' in Napier, but my all time favourites in Havelock/Hastings are:
- the gorgeous herb scone at Hawthornes - with the tomato relish of course...
- I think O'Sushi in Hastings does the best sushi in the Bay. The women in there are absolute darlings - and they gave me a hot tip - miso soup is good for upset tummy after too much wine (or in their case sake)!
- and the raw salad at Opera Kitchen - I have been trying to replicate it at home and it doesn't even come close to being as good!!
Who knows of other little gems?

I find the Te Mata Cheese factory for a great summer or spring lunch is quite different if you have out of towners. Their cheeses are certainly going from strength to strength.

Bistro 103 on Nelson Street, Hastings – just recently opened in a deco building, warm brick work walls and GREAT food!
