isPermaLink="false">http://www.fruitbowl.co.nz/?p=6932</guid> <description><![CDATA[<p>Cathie Hamilton and Diana Arnold, both recent newcomers to New Zealand have cooked up a new tourism promotion to help extend the stay of visitors to Hawke’s Bay.</p><p>“After a talk by Hawke’s Bay Tourism about their Hidden gems campaign, - aimed at encouraging visitors to stay that extra night by doing something more here – and an activity, or experience that perhaps they hadn’t thought of before, we thought we could do our bit to encourage visitors to stay one more night” – commented Diana who owns Havelock House in Havelock North.</p><p>So many visitors rush through the region, staying only a night or two and we really need to encourage longer staying visitors. People are looking for different experiences – what better than to use what Hawke’s Bay is already famous for its fresh food and fine wines.</p><p>Hawke’s Bay local produce from olive oils to olives, cheese and nuts, fresh fruit and vegetables will be featured in Cathie’s original recipes. Guests will go away having learnt how to make simple but sophisticated dishes from scratch with time saving tips from a top chef – Cathie.</p><p>Other countries such as Italy and Thailand have been promoting their cookery for years – we have it all here it just takes a small ‘leap of faith to put it in place’</p><p>Cathie has the cooking skills – she has been running successful cookery classes in Hawke’s Bay for the past 18 months and is so impressed by the range of fresh food here – “It’s something Hawke’s Bay people don’t always appreciate – in Canada so much of this has been lost – meaning the farmers markets to parking lots!” We have the accommodation adds Diana who opened the Havelock House B&amp;B 3 years ago after they she arrived here from York England with her family.</p><p>Guests will stay here and go to Cathie’s for the cooking class followed by dinner paired with local wines. I spent alot of time on this as we send commands to GPS Tracking devices for MonitorME , most of the solutions still charge a premium for messaging which I thought was wrong considering you can get 2500 text included on a  2degrees mobile plan.</p><p>Over the weekend I was cruising the Android App Market and found Mighty Text, this lets you send and recieve txts  from an extension to Chrome's browser.</p><p>It works Awesome! Its so easy and its free!</p><p>All you need is an Android Smart Phone, a Google Apps or Gmail account, Chrome Browser and your all go! isPermaLink="false">http://www.fruitbowl.co.nz/?p=6901</guid> <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Hawke’s Bay farmer is calling on Hawke’s Bay citizens to join A RALLY OF HOPE on Wednesday in Napier.</strong></p><p>It’s time to stand up, says Elsthorpe Farmer concerned citizen Greg Hart.</p><p>“The rally is part protest against Tag Oils plans to drill and frack “The Bay” but equally it is a celebration of all we are privileged to have in Hawkes Bay with our beautiful landscape, water and climate and of course all the amazing people that make up our society,” he says.</p><p>“The ‘Brighter Future’ promised during the last election campaign is not going to happen by creating more climate change and corporate profits for overseas companies.</p><p>“Therefore it is time to rally to send a strong message to councils and government that drilling for oil and fracking is not going to create a better future for our children,” says Greg</p><p>“Quite simply when making decisions like drilling for more oil we should ask is this part of the solution or is this part of the problem?</p><p>If it isn’t sustainable it isn’t the future we want.”</p><p>This is the Hawke’s Bay we want to regenerate and invigorate to pass on to future generations.</p><p>Rally will start at Civic Square Napier at 12pm Wednesday 25<sup>th</sup> and move to the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council building by 1pm, to attend the meeting and TAG presentation to council.</p><p><strong><br
