isPermaLink="false">http://www.fruitbowl.co.nz/?p=5777

Fibre - Things you need to know

1. Fibre is an access medium that offers far greater bandwidth and speed than copper - it is the equivalent of your copper line on steroids! The way we will access content and applications is changing and there is a growing need for the expanded capability that fibre offers. For businesses, there is an increasing dependency on cloud-based software and storage services, with the days of hard drives and servers looking increasingly threatened. At home we are streaming video, streaming audio and accessing IP TV.

2. The rate businesses move to fibre will be a function of needs and the expense. Fibre access is still relatively expensive, and while Airnet can connect customers to either Chorus or UnisonFibre now, the network access price changes that will come when the Crown Fibre project rolls out in Hawke's Bay may be 6 months, a year or even 2 years away.

3. Paying the commercial premium that comes with fibre is definitely justified if you:

Are a larger organisation with a large number of users, and/or

Are Increasingly dependent on cloud based-services and applications, and/or

Support a large number of remote users on VPNs or host services (websites, databases, etc), and/or

Need to upload large amounts of data from your office to another

4. If you are going to a switch to fibre you need to consider what kind of service will best fit. Do you need a flat rate data plan, that caps your monthly expenditure, or is speed more important? Simply choosing a service based on price could be a very costly mistake - in fact, some entry level fibre plans will actually deliver slower download speeds than your existing copper connection, but cost significantly more. Airnet will work with you and help determine the very best package to suit your particular needs.

Solutions, not technology

Airnet has the ability to connect our customers to numerous network technologies, and for this reason our sales ethos is driven by our customer's needs. We offer high-speed internet access through wireless, copper and fibre networks. We maintain commercial relationships with both UnisonFibre and Chorus which means that we can be totally impartial and the network technology (or access medium) we put you on is simply a function of your location, speed/usage requirements and your budget.

Leading the way with fibre

As we've already stated, fibre is fantastic - and Airnet has been leading the way, connecting organisations such as the Hawke's Bay District Health Board, Hastings Boys High School and Taradale High School to high speed, high capacity fibre in recent months.

0508 AIRNET

If you think fibre is right for you and want to discuss options give us a call today.

Fibre - Things you need to know

Sir Paul Callaghan – Strategy NZ

Education

Success Stories
<guid
